Inuvo (+ Dogs) Participates in March for Babies!

On April 24th Inuvo joined with March of Dimes in their annual March for Babies. Melissa Witt, Director of Marketing, headed up the Inuvo Team fundraising and coordination efforts.  The March for Babies is a national event, organized into a group of local events, which has been held once a year since 1970. Each year over 1 million participants join the March for Babies in over 900 communities. 

The March of Dimes has raised over $1.8 Billion for babies through these events and it putting this money to work fighting premature birth, providing life saving lung therapies, developing treatments for vision problems, working on preventing oral cleft deformities, decreasing neural tube defects, providing new treatments for babies who are heart patients and more!



This was Inuvo’s first event with March of Dimes and proved to be a great experience for our Inuvo Team and canine friends! It was a little chilly first thing in the morning, but then it turned into a beautiful day. We had 12 participants on our team, dressed in light blue and light pink shirts and seven dogs, all with baby-themed bandanas made by Jessica Lee.

The Pinellas County walk was estimated to have around 2,000 attendees, and after the opening ceremony, we were off!  There were babies, strollers, dogs and kids everywhere and we all were on our way down the 3 mile walk. We walked all along Bayshore Boulevard in Safety Harbor, FL., which is lined with beautiful houses facing the bay. There were numerous sponsored “pit stops” that had water and snacks for all the walkers—but I think the dogs appreciated that more than anyone!



One we finished the walk, the dogs all jumped into the marina and cooled off. Now that was certainly entertainment for all of the walkers! There was music, hot dogs, chips and Klondike bars given to all who participated.  Here’s what some of the participants have to share from their experience:

“Getting up early on a Saturday morning to March for Babies and spending time with my peers wasn't so bad! Being new at Inuvo, I am anxious to get to know everyone and spend some time together.  This was a perfect environment to break the ice.  I enjoyed walking, talking, getting to know everyone outside of the office, and most of all showing my compassion for a great cause.  I am glad to have shared this experience with my Inuvo friends and look forward to supporting many more of the great causes that are available!”
