March Inuvo Employee Spotlight: Dev Simon

Dev Simon

For the month of March, Inuvo is spotlighting Dave Simon, better known as Dev around the office, our Senior Technical Support Engineer here at Inuvo. It is rare to ever see Dev without a smile on his face, and he is always one for a conversation to see how you are doing. A friend to all and a devout Inuvoian, Dev works every day to move Inuvo forward. Please take a moment to read more about Dev in the Q&A below.

Inuvo: Hello Dev, please tell us a bit about yourself:

I was born in Michigan but relocated to Florida a few years ago with Inuvo. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss having my familiar and friends nearby, however now they have a good reason to take a vacation to see me in Florida! My fiancé and I will be getting married on the beach here in April. I like sunsets and long walks on the beach, along with cooking and eating.

Inuvo: What is your professional background?

I like to consider myself a self-taught programmer and a jack of all trades. My first job right after high school was a computer support desk for a number of different vendors. That propelled me into another computer-related field which was web design, which I did professionally for a number years. It was great being self-employed, but it had drawbacks. For example, I had no one to go to for assistance or to brainstorm with. Later a friend recommended I should apply at Inuvo. After landing the job, it felt good to be working with a team again. Going on seven years later, I am still happy to be where I am today.

Inuvo: Any exciting projects you are working on?

I have a few exciting projects on my table. First is working as the Quality Assurance for the Inuvo Platform. Sure, Quality Assurance might sound mundane and boring but, it really isn’t. You are the last handoff in the development relay race. Your job is to make sure your team finishes in 1st place. Another project I am working on is Android application development. I have a few applications in the works that I cannot go into many details about yet--all I can say is that they will work really well with some of our web properties. The last project that I am working on is migrating older websites onto new hardware.

Inuvo: What are your goals for March?

I have two main goals in March. First, to focus more attention to the Quality Assurance role for our new web properties. Second, to start development on a new Android application. I do have a non-computer related goal. That is to try and watch more sport games. Anyone who knows me, knows I that I rarely watch a sports game.

Inuvo: What are your goals for yourself and Inuvo?

My goal for the company is to continue providing top-notch support for our customers. Inuvo: What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most? I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of my job. Knowing that I can resolve issues with great efficiency makes this job rewarding and fun.

Inuvo: When you are not at work, what would we be most likely to find you doing?

I enjoy spending my time doing a number of things. Going to the beach with my fiancé is one of them. Cooking and learning new recipes. I have been known to pick up a camera and photograph people now and then and am currently reading an Android Application Development book. This summer, I plan on returning to the outdoors and playing a bit of Paintball.
